UK hairdressing contributes £6.3 billion to the UK economy and has experienced impressive growth over the past five years. But despite the success story to date, the industry now faces complex challenges that are threatening its future growth – even without Covid-19.

In order to tell Government about those challenges and to demand the support you, as self-employed hair professionals, need to secure the future of your business, we must first understand exactly what ‘growth’ means to you.

This survey, compiled by Creative HEAD Magazine in association with the Freelance Hairdressers’ Association and the British Beauty Council, will be taken into account in any policy-making and business support targeted at the UK hairdressing industry.
