Updated guidance for freelance hairdressers ahead of 2021 reopening:

This week we heard that mobile and freelance workers in the hairdressing and barbering sector in England can commence trading again on the 12th April, providing they follow all Covid secure guidance and protection measures are in place.

In Scotland, the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that from 26th April, subject to transmission, hospital and death rates continuing to fall, Scotland will begin a phased reopening of the economy.

On 19th February 2021, the Welsh government announced that the reopening of close contact services would be considered at the next three-week review.

The above dates are, however, subject to Government change if they deem it necessary… hopefully they won’t!

The dates are subject to data and the four stages of easing lockdown:

1: The vaccine deployment programme continues successfully
2: Evidence shows vaccines are sufficiently effective in reducing hospitalisations and deaths in those vaccinated
3: Infection rates do not risk a surge in hospitalisations which would put ‘unsustainable pressure’ on the NHS
4: The assessment of the risks is not fundamentally changed by new variants of concern

We will continue to keep all of our members updated as and when we receive information from the government.
