Inspire! 2014 Report
THE LAUNCH OF THE FREELANCE HAIRDRESSERS’ ASSOCIATION
The FHA officially launched on Sunday 8th June with its fabulous event Inspire! at the Hellidon Lakes Hotel in Northampton. Members met on Saturday night to kick off the event with a disco and they certainly know how to party!
Inspire! more than lived up to its name with an amazing line up on stage. Sheila Abrahams, founder of the FHA, welcomed everyone to a new chapter in the history of the freelance sector with the message ‘It’s gonna be great!’ hotly followed by John Huscroft whose message ‘U better work b*tch!’ provoked laughter with a serious motivational message. George’s Art Team showed some great summer styles and Alan Austin-Smith shared his Fantastic launch news. A break for coffee and then on stage Tim Hartley did some great nostalgic haircuts from the 70’s plus a makeover transformation on a model from the audience. Lunch was a delicious interlude with an opportunity to browse around the exhibition hall, pick up bargains and many free goody bags. After lunch Sheila Abrahams spoke about the exciting plans the FHA has for its members going forward, among them are specialist, low cost training courses with top industry names, and plans to create a network of freelancers across the UK. The FHA message is ‘you may work alone but you don’t have to be on your own’. Next on stage Patrick Cameron who never disappoints and on this occasion his work was spectacular. A raffle which raised £800 for HABB was the close of Inspire!
UK FREELANCE AWARDS CEREMONY. hosted by the FHA.
A scrumptious afternoon tea preceded the UK Freelance Awards Ceremony hosted by Sheila Abrahams together with FHA ambassadors Patrick Cameron and Tim Hartley. It began with a presentation by Julie Dowen who took us on a trip down memory lane to reminisce on how we established a place in our industry for the freelance sector over the last 21 years and then the presentation of the Awards began. The beautiful work entered by our finalists was displayed and the Award winners were on a high. Finally the day came to a close. A day that had been packed with education, motivation, free gifts, delicious food, free admission to an exhibition and an awards ceremony. Wow, Inspire! really lives up to its name.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF THE UK FREELANCE AWARDS.
