If you are ever in the situation where you feel you may have a claim being made on you contact the FHA immediately. We will be able to support you and guide you through the next steps to be taken.

It is a good idea to write down in detail what has happened as soon as you can. Don’t leave it as you may forget some important detail.
The claim may never happen however, if it does insurance companies like to be informed rather than being caught unaware. You will be asked to give a record of what has happened. It will not blot your copy book, nothing will be held against you. It just means that of a client approaches the insurance company they have the information to hand.

If a client contacts you and threatens to ‘sue’ you. Inform the FHA immediately and then do not have any further contact with the client. Once a claim is being dealt with by the insurance company you it is out of your hands and you will not be involved.

If you are asked to do work that you feel is inadvisable, you are a professional, stand by your word. Paperwork, a disclaimer, signed by the client stating they will take responsibility for the result is worthless and will not stand up in court.
